Cactus Cafe Music Venue Editorial

Cactus Cafe opened in 1979 and is one of Austin's great venues. Artists ranging from the likes of Lyle Lovett and the Dixie Chicks to Suzanne Vega and Butch Hancock have graced this famous stage in the Texas Union at the University of Texas.

In 2003, Ray Wylie Hubbard released Growl. This album is an exciting achievement from Hubbard, and features the song that has earned him a good deal of air play, "Rock n' Roll is a Vicious Game" and a long-standing spot on the Americana charts.

Hubbard has teamed up with Darden Smith to entertain folks at weekend retreats in Ojo Caliente, New Me...

Wellspring, 2003, is the highly praised sophomore release from Caroline Herring. She again wows with intelligent and vivid songwriting. The album is a mix of folk and country, even a bit of bluegrass.
