Music that will take you higher at 2006-02-23
This CD is absolutely incredible. The amazing talents that Chris Tomlin is blessed with shine through in this concert recording!!! Wherever you are at when you play it youll become consumed with the spirit of adoration through the praise and worship. This CD is another blessing God has used Chris Tomlin to share with the world. THIS IS AN AWESOME CD =) I thought I wasnt going to enjoy the same songs as are found on the Arriving CD and I was wrong. A lot of the songs from the Arriving CD are on this Austin Music Hall CD, and this CD has such heart to it - when you can hear the audience singing with all their heart it is sensational. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have!!!!!

Chris Tomlin AND the Austin Audience Get Rave Reviews! at 2006-01-11
Chris Tomlins new CD Live From Austin Music Hall (Released 12/27/05) is a wonderful collection representative of Tomlins signature worship songs. From the opener Indescribable to the last track Famous One the listener is drawn to worship an indescribable God through acknowledgment of a few of His many attributes. Tomlin leads us to praise Gods love that endures Forever, His Kindness that brings repentance, and the fact that He is Unchanging. Tomlin reminds us that God is on Our Side and cant be against us, and makes the undeniable statements This is our God, How Great is Our God and that the heavens declare the Famous One.After the initial celebratory applause from the expectant audience is hushed to near silence by quiet, simple strains of solo piano music, Tomlins voice breaks through for the first time. Accompanied only by solo piano, Tomlin leads the listener into an intimate moment with the Creator singing From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea ... and immediately the audience is heard in unison, singing as one voice, this personal prayer song. One of this reviewers favorite moments on this CD occurs as the second verse begins, again with Tomlin accompanied only by soft piano, we hear him begin Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go... and the full band suddenly breaks in adding a thunderous punctuation to the words lightning bolt. The audience responds in an eruption of applause and delight as they realize they were just lifted to the next level in worship. Indescribable is the appropriate choice to lead off this worship album because it sets the tone for things to come and puts the focus on the Creator, the Indescribable.Next, Tomlin picks up the tempo with the joyous and familiar worship anthem Forever and the audience helps keep time with enthusiastic hand-clapping and toe-tapping. The third track on the album reclaims the intimate setting with a melody accompanied by simple bass and acoustic guitar. Tomlin sings about the Lords Kindness and how it leads to repentance.Unchanging is another joyous tune that nudges the audience to raise up holy hands to celebrate Gods unchanging, never failing nature. Seth Walker, a fellow Texan from Austin, then joins Tomlin onstage to add his vocals to the bluesy rocker God is On Our Side that has the sold-out crowd reveling in that very truth, and the fact that He cant be against us. Tomlin also invites David Crowder, yet another Texan and anointed worship leader, to share the stage for the poignant This is Our God, a ballad-type tune that penetrates the heart of a worshiper and is a wonderful reminder of Who God is.How Great is Our God closes out the time of worship and this track contains another favorite moment for this reviewer. It is the transition of the How Great is Our God chorus into a favorite hymn with the words Then sings my soul.... How Great Thou Art, the timeless melody and chorus, capture the majesty of God like no other hymn I know, especially as it is being sung in unison by the many voices, and hearts turned to the Lord, packed into the sold-out venue.God has anointed Chris Tomlin to lead us into worship and he does so with great talent and great humility. This CD contains many worship songs that are familiar to people who are fans of praise and worship music, especially those who are fans of Passion and One Day festivals, but there is something special about listening to these songs live. The audience in Austin gets a thumbs up review as well because their heart of worship is so evident through their enthusiastic participation in song and celebration. The 8 track CD is packed full of songs that help a listener focus on the attributes of God and serve to inspire intimate moments of worship that virtually transport one to stand in awe before the throne of God, and to humbly bow at the feet of Jesus.(The only negative to this CD is that is is only 8 tracks long, and really has nothing new or innovative to add to the plethora of worship music available these days. However, it is a quality addition to any praise and worship music collection.)

Superb live CD that will draw you in. at 2005-12-29
Well, I have to confess that I had never heard of Chris until I was taken to a concert back in 2004. Of all the bands that played that night, I have to admit Chris really reached me. This CD has a good balance between worshipful songs and ones that rock. Chris lead guitarist often sounds somewhat similar to U2s the Edge especially on Forever which really adds a great dimension to the song. I had never fully appreciated worship songs until I heard Chris do How Great is Our God which gave me a whole new perspective and is very effectively captured on this CD. Besides those tunes, the CD becomes a must-buy with the inclusion of a superb energetic version of Indescribable and other popular songs such as Famous One and Raise Up Holy Hands. I had been hoping since that concert that he would release a CD from that tour, and my hope has now been answered (imagine that). 2/06 update: eight of us just saw Chris again in Saginaw, MI and days later we all agreed that it was one of the best worship experiences of our lives. Its certainly difficult for a CD to fully match the experience of being there, but with the right perspective, it can get you pretty close. Be sure to try and see Chris on his current tour w/Matt Redman and speaker Louie Giglio.

Indescribable! at 2006-06-02
Wow! Could this be the best seven tracks to start a worship CD ever? As a guitarist of a praise and worship band, I received this CD and immediately learned the guitar chords to Holy Is The Lord, How Great Is Our God, Your Grace Is Enough, Unfailing Love, and Mighty Is The Power Of The Cross. Chris Tomlin has become the best at corporate worship and his songs have become staples of every praise and worship band. Its almost impossible not to go to an event with a worship band and not hear a Chris Tomlin song. God has blessed him in every way. And its funny that a vocal teacher in college told him that he would never make it as a singer...well, I guess he has done ok, huh? This is a CD that makes you sing along and is a must have (along with Not To Us) for everybodys CD collection.

Good, not great at 2006-05-26
I love the first four songs on this CD - especially How Great is Our God. However, I have trouble distinguishing the remaining songs. Tomlin has a great voice, but I wouldve liked to hear some more versatility in the music. That said, the first four songs on the CD make it worth a purchase.

Best Corporate Worship CD of all time! at 2006-06-02
Yes, David Crowder Band is my favorite to listen to, but this is the ultimate in corporate worship. A praise and worship band could easily do a whole set of just these songs and the crowd would sing along loud with every word. My favorites include: Enough, Not To Us, Wonderful Maker, Famous One, Unchanging, and Come Home Running. But lets face it, theres not one bad song on here. And judging how good Arriving was, Chris Tomlin has proven that he is the real deal. He has a great voice, great song structure, and you will always find a bible-centered message. This CD is timeless and I will have it forever (or until the CD disintegrates from being overplayed!).

Genuine, heartfelt, and anointed. at 2005-11-16
Not to Us is focused on giving God the glory, praise, and thanks He deserves. Its about recognizing God as the Creator and the Master. Chris Tomlin is an anointed worship leader, genuine songwriter, and talented musician. He has been involved with the Passion and One Day albums and is known for songs, such as Famous One, Indescribable, and How Great Is Our God, which are all Bible-based. Chris Tomlins songs are sung directly to the Lord; they are a dialogue and come from the heart. Chris Tomlin is one of my favorite worship leaders, and if you like his style, check out albums by Tim Hughes, Chris Joyner, Matt Redman, Delirious?, Passion Worship Band, and David Crowder Band.Synopsis of Songs:Everything-The theme of this driving song is every perfect gift comes from You. Enough-This dynamic song is popular on Christian radio and cries out the theme: God is more than enough for me.Not to Us-This song focuses on giving God all the praise: not to us, but to Your name be the glory. It exclaims, its all for You, and has a similar beat to the first song on the album.Wonderful Maker-This light tune contains vivid lyrics and describes the Father of Creation and our Father; Chris Tomlin sings about how the Majestic God created the earth, how He sent His Son to the earth, and how He whispers to us as His children.Famous One-This is a popular song, being played on Christian radio and sung in many churches. It has a unique rhythm in 6/8-time. It is energetic and gives God the praise.Come Let Us Worship-I love this simple song of invitation to worship. The River-This high-energy song refers to being soaked and cleansed in the river of God.Unchanging-This worship song refers to Gods unchanging nature and His faithfulness.Come Home Running-This is a quiet, folky song and has a Michael W. Smith feel. It encourages the prodigals to come home running.Overflow-This song questions, Where would I be without You? and talks about how God fills his children.
