The Hummingbirds Album Review:
Underrated Pop at 2005-03-11
I first heard The Hummingbirds back in 1993 with their college radio single Word Gets Around. I promptly bought their album Love Buzz and enjoyed it very much. After that, I never heard from this band again. The Australian based Hummingbirds are an example of vastly underatted pop music. True to their name, these birds (2 girls and 2 guys) harmonize well together in a flurry of fast pop tunes. You can tell they (unashamedly) had alot of fun in making just 2 albums and a few singles to date. The Hummingbirds had a sound that was uniquely their own. This collection of their songs is more like a collection of all their favorite tunes rather than a greatest hits collection.I recommend you give them a listen. This album is just another example of great pop music that flew under the radarHighlights:Tuesday,Word Gets Around,Blush,In a Vow

The Hummingbirds Album Review:
radio days at 2005-10-22
Lovebuzz is a well crafted album and an outstanding entry into the world of power pop. this overlooked Australian group wrote some fine catchy tunes that contain flashes of brilliance as on the swirling Blush and the sugary jangle-pop of Everything You Said. im not sure if they are popular in Australia, but back in 1990, this album would have fit in perfectly with most stuff being played on American college radio.

The Hummingbirds Album Review:
great jangle/powerpop produced by Mitch Easter at 2004-04-09
This album (and the band) deserved a much better fate than what was given. There is probably nobody else on the planet more suited to producing a jangly powerpop record than Mitch Easter, and the production on Love Buzz suits the songs perfectly. This album is crammed full of melodic songs with male-female harmonies throughout. In addition to the jangle, there are some nice distorted guitar leads placed in here and there which wouldnt sound out of place on an early-90s Boo Radleys or Smashing Pumpkins album. Chances are that if youre reading this review on this obscure out-of-print album from 15 years ago, this is right up your alley and you should order a copy.
