Ruben Ramos Album Review: True Tejano/Chicano music at 2006-03-16 If you wanted to hear the way Tejano music is supposed to sound, you need this CD. Avizos Horn section with a light mix of accordion makes for great music reminiscent of Tejano legends like Little Joe, Sunny Ozuna and the Latin Breed. Avizo brings in elements of all the music that has influenced what Tejano is; rock, r and b, South Texas Conjunto, big band....with some solid tributes to other Latin traditions like Salsa and Mambo.An All-Star lineup of guest vocals including Jay Perez, Ruben Ramos, Little Joe, Jessy Serrata, Augustin Ramirez and David Marez are outstanding, but Avizos very own Tracy Perez takes a back seat to nobody, as her songs may be the best. Nunca Jamas and Corazon de Piedra are two of the best Tejano songs of 2005.

Too many of todays bands put too much show and not enough heart in their music. You can tell that Ruben Ramos has experienced much of what he sings about and many of us that grew up in the late 50s and in the 60s in San Antonio can relate to his music.
