Matt the Electrician Album Review:
Taking comfort from music of gentle rebel. at 2006-07-14 I really like this cd; its the main one I listen to these days. Matts website puts it in a genre of gritty neo-folk. This guy is a clever song writer, penning 11 of the 12 on this cd. Ironically the one cover tune in this collection, Jessies Girl, is better than the hit version, with Matts version laden with a sincere gentle passion. Who hasnt been there? But I digress. The first 3 songs on this cd reveal some of his best qualities: a connection to working folks and our everyday distractions, hints of even darker troubles that are sometimes dealt with by little eye-twinkles of wry humor, and a musical wit that veers with quirky turns (he seems to shy away from predictability). Some cuts might put you off at first, but later kind of grow on you. Cant decide which is my favorite: maybe Milo, These Boots, Little Hands, Lost or King of the Losers. Heck, just listen and see what you think, but dont generalize from just one song because they vary and fit different moods. Go to Matttheelectrician.com and try out the first 3 from this cd and also first 3 from his newer one, Long Way Home. Hope you like em. Orangebloodtruckboy

Matt the Electrician Album Review:
Nice listening. Good stories/ imagry at 1999-04-16 Baseball songs is a strong album. It took me a couple of times through to really like it. the songs are well written, and well performed.I had to down grade this from five stars because I have seen Matt live several times, Both before and after the CD came out. Matt has a great stage presence. Telling jokes, maybe a story or even repeating his name between each song, like a silly mantra. All of this adds up to a bringing the audience closer to him. And I feel that his album missed that intimacy, but live is always best anyway...
Matt the Electrician Album Review:
Catchy songs and refreshing lyrics. at 1999-10-31 This cd is great! The lyrics are both serious (scars) and halarious (food) and everywhere between. Matts vocal and musical style are somewhat modern alternative but also have classic hints. I listen to mostly alternative and pop, though I know friends who enjoy other styles of music who also like this album. It reminds me slightly of Sister Hazle, though Matt the Electrician has a style of his own. Listen for yourself. Matt the Electrician has a new album coming out soon and I cant wait! Highly recommended! =)
Matt the Electrician Album Review:
Catchy songs and refreshingly thoughtful lyrics--great! at 1999-11-02 This is a great CD! Matt the Electrician has awsome lyrics which varry from serious (Scars) to halarious (Food) to everything between. After listening through a couple of times I fell in love with the music. Matt has a vocal and instrumental style all his own. I mostly listen to pop and alternative music, but I have friends who listen to other styles who also enjoy this cd. Matt the Electrician has such an original, folk-popish style. It reminds me slightly of Sister Hazle or Barenaked Ladies, though the style is original so you have to hear it to know it. Matt the Electrician has a new cd coming out sometime soon in the future and I cant wait! I would highly recommend this album to anyone. Really excellent! =)
