You first heard Rayvon"s pliant tenor backing Shaggy on the smash single "Angel+" and+ as befits a singer who played a part in a worldwide+ platinum-plus hit+ he"s now out on his own. His summer-fun solo debut boasts numerous frisky and risqué R&B/reggae romps+ many of which extol the virtues (or more accurately+ the lack thereof) of the ladies and the nightlife. In fact+ the title track+ another tired ode to gold diggers+ finds our man Ray actually calling his girl a skank. So much for his loverman cred. Lucky for us+ moves like that are rare+ and the remainder of this rock-steady CD is pulsating+ pungent+ and pleasing. On the sinewy "In the Wintertime" and the bass-blessed "English Pound+" this former sideman grabs the spotlight with style and soul. <I>--Amy Linden</I>
