She's been dubbed a Tex-Mex spitfire. That description perfectly sums up Patricia Vonne and describes her high energy bilingual talent.
Guitars and Castanets (2005) is her second solo album. The album is a mix of rock 'n' roll and mariachi. The players include guitarist Charlie Sexton, singer-songwriter and guitarist Jon Dee Graham, nylon string guitarist Rick Del Castillo, keyboards player Michael Ramos, bassist Mark Andes, San Antonio guitarist Joe Reyes (of Lara & Reyes) and saxophonist Reno.
Vonne's music has appeared on numerous movie soundtracks, including the Mariachi Trilogy directed by her brother Robert Rodriguez. Guitars and Castanets includes the bonus track "Traeme Paz," featured in the film and on the soundtrack album for Once Upon A Time In Mexico.
Her debut release, in 2003, was Patricia Vonne. The debut album catapulted Vonne into a busy schedule of performing throughout Texas and on three European tours. She's all over the Austin press and live radio, with feature stories about her appearing in Grammy Magazine, The New York Times Syndicate, and Insite Magazine.
Vonne has done some acting, too. She's appeared in Sin City, El Segundo, Spy Kids, Four Rooms, and Desperado.
