Kimmie Rhodes's Bio:

Picture in a Frame (2003) is a laid back duo album from Kimmie Rhodes and Willie Nelson. These two talents are a nice complement to each other and the album is guaranteed to be likeable. Since releasing Love me Like a Song and preparing Picture in a Frame, Rhodes has branched out into some interesting artistic and culinary endeavors, which you can learn about on her Web site.

Love me Like a Song is Kimmie Rhodes 2002 release. It features 13 new songs, including duets with Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Beth Nielsen Chapman, and Benmont Tench.

In an interview with Country Line magazine, Kimmie Rhodes said, "I write anywhere and everywhere everyday. Living inspires me and I read a lot, more just to have a head full of words than anything else. I?m like a sponge. I just randomly soak things in and then rearrange the pieces to fit my own communication needs. I write a lot of my songs by myself. I have written a lot of my songs in my sleep." Love me Like a Song is an indication that Rhodes has been sponging it all up and using it very well indeed.

Jackalopes, Moons & Angels features tracks off Kimmie Rhodes' 1983 Kimmie Rhodes and the Jackalope Brothers, four from its follow-up Man in the Moon in 1985, and five from 1989's Angels Get the Blues. For fans of her songwriting, it is a treat to hear the original versions of songs covered by more famous folks, such as "I Just Drove By" which Wynonna Judd covered, and "Just One Love", recorded by one of her biggest fans, Willie Nelson. (He says she is an undiscovered superstar.) The album garnered four stars from the Austin Chronicle's Raoul Hernandez.

West Texas Heaven made eleven different top ten lists of the best country albums of 1996. In the album's liner notes, Joe Nick Patoski wrote, "If West Texas had a voice I think it would sound like Kimmie Rhodes. Her nightingale's warble is as plaintive as the flat plains, pure as the untainted air, as big as the endless horizon, as wild and free as the wind." If her "nightengale's warble" isn't enough to satisfy you, the album also features Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Townes Van Zandt with background vocals from Beth Nielsen Chapman and Joe Ely.

Kimmie grew up in Lubbock. She came to Austin in 1979. She has toured the world since then, seen her songs recorded by singers such as Trisha Yearwood and Amy Grant, and had her songs appear as part of movie and television scores. She wrote a musical review titled Hillbilly Heaven with Joe Sears of "Greater Tuna" fame which has been performed as a benefit.

Her 1999 summer schedule included everything from the Cactus Cafe in Austin to the House of Blues in Boston. Look at kimmierhodes.com for an up to date schedule and contact information.
