Herring recently married and moved out of Austin because of her new husband's work location, but her Southern chops are still very evident in Wellspring. Herring is from Mississippi. She came to Austin to complete a Ph.D. at the University of Texas. She's moved into the Austin music scene with a weekly happy hour at Stubb's BBQ and has performed with Tish Hinojosa and Ray Wylie Hubbard.
