Cadaques was founded in 1999. Put together by Jayme Munoz on classical guitar, Dan Mowery on bass, and Steve Metz on drums and backing vocals and Hector Vasquez on classical guitar and lead vocals, the band is an attempt to incorporate Latin jazz with American jazz.
Dance of Freedom was released in 2003. It is their second release. They have taken home the prize on a number of occasions, winning Austin Music Awards 2002-03 Best Performing Bands Mexican/Traditional; The Austin Chronicle, Austin Music Poll 2001-2002 No. 3 Best Band in Austin, World Music Category, Hector Vasquez Top 20, Best Male Vocalist; and The Austin Chronicle, Austin Music Poll 2000-2001 No. 5 Best Band in Austin, World Music Category.
