Imagine a smorgasbord of Cab Calloway, circus sideshow, KISS, cabaret, Hee Haw and Robert Johnson served up at Andy Kaufman's bat-mitzvah. A joyous mixture of the absurd and sublime, the eight-piece ensemble gracefully blends a musical amalgam of Hokum Blues, Hillbilly Swing, Country and Hot Jazz.

Like the great entertainers before them, the band's true gift is their ability to take their eclectic influences and combine them into something they can call their own.

The White Ghost Shivers were amazing last night at Unlock Austin's Lose Your Resolution Party at the Parish. After a solid set of Seth Walker's blues, the stage was set for the band, plus honorary Shiver, Leslie, and they did not disappoint. An hour of intoxicating ditties, I would say, won over all my friends at the show. Leslie strutted around at regular intervals but the panache and versatility of the Shivers is just stunning, and when it all comes together as well as it did last night, you kinda get lost in a different decade, or world even.
