Hands Down one of the best cds I ever purchased unlistened.
Back in 1995, when I was a member of BMG or Columbia, I got a cd of the month that intrigued me because of who the singer was: former porn queen Traci Lords (who I knew from her Melrose Place fame). I kept the cd and it was a wise choice! Every song on here is a little gem. It has a Techno vibe that is enjoyable, not annoying. Every song is charming, danceable and 5 stars. The exception is fathers field while an EXCELLENT song, its difficult to listen to more than a few times without crying. My favorites on this cd are: I want you, Control, Say Something, Fly, Fallen Angel and the cheesy Okey Dokey.
qcd
1000 Fires has been produced with great qcd -- quality, care and devotion. Showing no weak spots, its music makes a sure pinnacle of mid-nineties technopop.Qcd is extended in this CDs package. Connecting very well with the music, the harmony and taste of Traci Lords disc-sleeve-box-design easily outshine any usual put-together-stuff.
utter crap
even for 1995 this sounds horribly dated. Uses the most cliched techno sounds you can think of. sounds like bad mc-303 presets. utterly disposable crap. thank god she never made any more. this is techno for people who have no clue what techno is. she shouldve stuck to getting slammed on film. she was much more talented with her legs in the air.
Say something
The only good thing to ever come out of the horrible Mortal Kombat movies is the killer soundtracks. One of my favorite songs from the original Mortal Kombat soundtack is Traci Lords track Control. I love Tracis breathless vocals and the fast paced techno beats. I finally got around to buying her album 1000 Fires a week ago and I was quite surprised to find out how good the cd. The music is all written by the legendary techno act Juno Reactor including Control. The lyrics on the other hand are something to be less than desired. I found the lyrics to be silly, and sometimes stupid like on Okey Dokey and Good-n-Evil. Okey Dokey has to have the worst lyrics I have ever heard. The song itself has a good beat but the lyrics are awful. I was suprised to hear that not all of the cd sounds like Control but has a smooth, seductive trip hop feel like on Distant Land and Fly. My favorite songs on the cd has to be the catchy Fallen Angel and Outlaw Lover. I especially dug the infectious hooks of Outlaw Lover despite the silly lyrics. The album is by far from perfect but it is better than I was expecting it to be. Normally any actor who tries to become a musician usually fails miserably by my standards but Traci does a remarkably good job. Now if only she can work on her songwriting abilities.

Traci Lords Album Review:
EXCELLENT! at 2006-07-22
I HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT THIS CD NUMEROUS TIMES AND BOUGHT IT AGAIN RECENTLY. EACH TIME I BUY IT SOMEONE WOULD WANT TO BORROW IT AND NEVER RETURN IT BECAUSE IT WAS THAT GOOD! ITS A CD THAT NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU LISTEN TO IT, YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN. MY FAVORITE SONG LIKE MANY OTHERS IS CONTROL. ITS AN EXCELLENT SONG TO WORK OUT TO! OUTLAW LOVER, DISTANT LAND AND FLY ARE OTHER FAVORITES! TRACI LORDS REALLY SHOWS THAT SHE IS NOT AFRAID TO EXPRESS HER FEELINGS AND SHOW OTHERS WHAT SHE HAD GONE THROUGH IN HER PAST.

Traci Lords Album Editorial:
Let me kiss it and make it better purrs the X-rated vixen turned mainstream actress as she attempts (on Control the first single) to get a rise out of the techno audience. With writing/production from Babble (ex-Thompson Twins) the KLFs Ben Watkins and Mike Edwards of Jesus Jones the music is sleek robotic and primed for clubbers wholl view her as the camp descendant of disco queen Amanda Lear. Outlaw Lover is worthy of Mitsou and the serious tone of Fathers Field tells us not to treat her too lightly. Jeff Bateman
