Red Young moved to back to his home state of Texas after a successful stay in California, playing mostly piano. Since coming to Austin, he has been making a name for himself with a Hammond B3 organ. He appears with several groups, including the Red Young Trio, which has released a CD, The Organizer. The album features Red Young on Hammond B3, James Achor on guitar and Kenny Sara on drums. Additional tracks include Anthony Wilson on guitar and Willie McNeil on drums.
Young also appears with Red Young and the Red Hots, a group playing mostly swing music.
Young has played with many well known acts, including Joan Armatrading, Juice Newton, Sonny and Cher, Tanya Tucker, Dolly Parton, Eric Burdon, Linda Ronstadt, Nelson Riddle, the Fabulous Thunderbirds' Kid Ramos, Red and the Red Hots, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Stephen Bruton and Marcia Ball.
