Pamela Hart Bio

Pam Hart is a force, an organizer, an achievement, a movement, and not only that, she can sing! Her first album, May I Come In? will convince you of that. After one listen you'll join the ranks of Pam Hart supporters who know they are going to be able to say, "I knew her when," very soon. She and her husband Kevin Hart formed a production company they dubbed Hartbeat Productions and have turned the Austin jazz scene into a gem reflecting the many facets of the female jazz vocalist. The highlight of their unswerving effort is the Women in Jazz Concert Series.First making waves in Austin with her tribute performances honoring Billie Holiday, Pam earned a reputation as a soulful songstress who can transform a rowdy crowd in the Elephant Room into awestruck silence as easily as she can warm up the crowd as the opening act for a touring Kirk Whalum.

For her first album, Pam wrote some original songs, gathered the finest Austin players, and together they made eleven magical tracks for May I Come In?

Pamela Hart Album Review:
Newly arrived to Austin at 2000-01-05
Wow! We just arrived in Austin and happened to catch a jam session at the Elephant Room. Pamela Hart happened to be in attendance and sang a couple of songs. Her renditions of those old favorites was so incredible we ran out and bought the CD. It doesnt disappoint! Pamelas rendition of What are you doing with the rest of your life will blow you away. The clarity of the tone, the beauty of the sound, the capture of the mood is all just perfect. Were hoping Pamela records a new CD soon!

Pamela, One Of The Very Best Jazz Artist On The Scene Today. at 2001-11-20
Upon receiving the CD via snail mail, I have kept it on the carousel. Starting with The Way Of Love and ending with The Masquerade Is Over Each tune well orchestrated and the voice of Pamela is very good. I would love to hear more from Pamela. Sandra Kaye
Pamela Hart Album Review:
Yes you may at 2000-07-05
Wow! The CD has a Salsa opening (Thats The Way Of Love) that makes you want to hear more of it. Things slow down a bit with Ever Blue. Pamela makes you think she is singing to you when she does I Want you To Be My Man. All the nauances of an outstanding singer are shown when she sings What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life, Second Time Around, The Masquerade Is Over and the title tune May I Come In. Rich Harney wrote three excellent tracks, Hart and Hughes callaborated on two tracks. This CD produced and arranged by James Polk is excellent. Yes Pamela you may come In.

Ab-Fab (Absolutely Fabulous) at 2002-12-09
I have been listening to Ms. Hart for years, and this CD is the Bomb! Some of the tunes should be considered for a movie sound track. Every time I hear Ever Blue, I visualize a love story involving intrigue, passion, and suspense. The entire collage and artistry of May I Come In is truly a labor of love. I highly recommend this CD and look forward to the next. This is a worthwhile investment.

Upside of Music on Internet: Discovery of Pamela Hart at 2002-10-22
While most people are bemoaning the internet and the supposed destruction of the music industry as a result, I would like to trumpet the upside of it. I discovered Pamela Hart by downloading 4 music clips of hers on Amazon Music Downloads (they are still here). I put them into my Windows Media 9 downloaded player. They sounded absolutely fantastic back to back at about 2 minutes apiece. Then I got the CD and it was even a better experience to listen to the full songs plus the other songs on the CD. She reminds me of Ella Fitzgerald in the clear, lilting lyrical style she employs, almost floating above the material and floating you along with it. Yet there is a touch of the smokey Julie London here too. These are jazz, R and B, and standards, my favorite musical genre. Hart is a local super nova songstress in Austin, Texas. It is unlikely I will be in Austin anytime soon and so it is unlikely I would have otherwise discovered Hart but for the internet. I think the internet is more of the claimed disaster for bloated musical international superstars than it is for emerging artists. At one time, staying put in your own town or state was certain death for an artist of any sort. With the advent of the internet, we consumers now have the power to discover those talents while they stay in their local venues. This means they neednt lose any of the local roots and influences which attracted us in the first place to their stylings. I think those of you who have been listening to Diana Krall and Stacey Kent might even be happier with the singing of Pamela Hart or at the very least, as happy. Give her a try.

Pamela Hart Album Editorial:
Combination of standard and comtemporary jazz latin and RB vocals. This CD straddles the line between smooth and traditional jazz offering four songs whose feel is definitely smooth a few songs that are equally traditional and several that incorporate elements of contemporary jazz and RB.
