Mady Kaye Bio

A live recording made during Mady Kaye's highly successful Zach Scott cabaret show "A Tribute to Tin Pan Alley: The Golden Age of Song" is the source of Mady Kaye Goes Cabaret, a 1999 release. She is also a part of the fairly new jazz trio known as the Beat Divas which has been a big hit in Austin jazz venues.

When you sit down to listen to Mady Kaye perform, you can relax knowing you are in the hands of a polished professional with stage presence (spell that charisma). Her singing and songwriting talent by itself is enough to make anyone happy, so it's a Mady Kaye extra-value-bonus that she really knows how to charm an audience.

She appears in many Austin venues regularly. In addition to her own gigs as Mady Kaye, she is the organizer and soprano voice in a group called The Austin Carolers, which sings carols all year round. Mady's noted for her improvisational lyrics in a jazz set, she turns Winter Wonderland into a tune about Austin, and writes lyrics inspired by the muse for her own songs.

Songs for All Seasons is her first album. It is a collection of jazz and blues with some original tunes about the seasons that range from the upbeat "So Hot" to the wonderful "Autumn Song."

Ms. Kaye grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY in a very musical family. Her style often reflects that "Manhattan" sound of jazz vocalese. Her training is in classical piano, flute and voice. She is also trained and certified in the Kodaly method. This background gives her a flexibility of style and technique of unique dimensions.

Clubs, theater, jazz festivals, weddings and parties are Mady Kaye venues in Austin. In addition to performing, Ms. Kaye is a highly regarded vocal instructor. The Austin Chronicle's "Critics Picks" named her the the best professional voice instructor in Austin. She also teaches professional performance techniques and stage presence.
