Ma Ferguson

The first female governor of Texas was the inspiration for this band's name. Named for Miriam M.A. (Ma) Ferguson, this band bills itself as the National Band of Texas.

Jay Chaffe and Paul Deitz are the guitarists, Lawrence Britz plays bass guitar, Sam Sporazza keyboards and Darin Abney plays drums in this Southern Rock band. The band plays rock covers of bands like The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top, as well as original tunes. In 2001 they won 2nd place in KLBJ Radio's SXSW Schmooze Fest New Talent Competition.
