Danny Schmidt Album Review:
Stained Glass at 2006-02-25 This collection of songs shows musical capability in various styles. Fine guitar work and a melodic, clear and acurate voice. The lyrics contain imagery and feelings that bring great power to this music. Danny Schmidt is unique in many ways. Its fun to me to find that I cannot categorize his music. I titled these comments Stained Glass because that was the first song of his that I heard on the radio, and I wanted to hear more.

Phenomenal Album at 2006-01-03 This album is a strong following to Make Right the Time, which is a great album on its own. Danny Schmidt has a rare combination of amazing guitar work, solid voice and moving lyrics. I would highly recommend this album to anyone who has a love of music.
Danny Schmidt Album Review:
The essence of music. at 2005-12-29 I live in Austin- the Live Music Capital of the World. On any given night, you can wander downtown and hear block after block of venue after venue playing genre after genre of music. But one of the most memorable musical experiences Ive had since I made Austin my home is witnessing Danny Schmidt perform for an audience of less than 100 in someones back yard. Danny deserves much greater notoriety for his talent. This album is honestly one of the best collections of songs I have run across in years. It makes me sad that it has one customer review. Two, now... It doesnt seem to bother him in the least that he doesnt have fame, fortune and glory, but it bothers ME. Here is his website: http://www.dannyschmidt.com/ Go there and make him known to thee. It is evident that Danny Schmidt truly cares about the music that he crafts, and finally getting to listen to him play live was a real and true pleasure... His insight into love and politics and hell, even his battle with cancer, is fresher than most of what I come across. His music is real. It is thoughtful. It is gentle. It inspires genuine emotion. I highly recommend this album, and his others.
Danny Schmidt Album Review:
Heard some of these songs live, in Bethel, Alaska: 9/19/05 at 2005-09-20 OK, so I didnt hear all of the songs. But of the ones he played (This Too Shall Pass, Dark Eyed Prince, Happy All the Time, and Stained Glass), all had my complete attention and appreciation throughout. Making it seem effortless to play complicated yet fitting fingerpicking runs (while still being creative enough to not seem mechanical), Mr. Schmidt also holds his own quite convincingly with his vocal efforts. It was, after all, just he and his guitar. Blessed with a natural wit and a mind for interesting lyrics, Danny Schmidt makes one think and rethink, smile, and examine ones own past. Buy the CD and book him for your town; I just got lucky that he came to Bethel (pop. about 7,000; no roads in or out) and I got to hear him for whatever I felt comfortable donating! Check out the other albums, too.
Danny Schmidt Album Editorial: Danny Schmidt is a writers writer in the vein of Townes Van Zandt and Leonard Cohen. This is the kind of album you envelope yourself in at 2am half drunk; with lyrics on your lap as you follow along line by line. This is Schmidts first album since moving back home to Austin; the first to draw off the abundant wealth of Austin musicians with the likes of Lloyd Maines on lap steel Guy Forsyth on harmonica Michael Longoria (Patti Griffins band) on drums and Bruce Hughes (Bob Schneiders band) on bass. Parables Primes is lushly orchestrated yet still sparse with graceful touches of accordion violin cello organ trumpet mandolin and of course some sweet harmonies. They make for a velvety backdrop - but its the songs themselves their messages and their poetry that sit front and center on Schmidts records and this one is no exception.
Danny Schmidt Album Editorial: Danny Schmidt is a writer#146;s writer in the vein of Townes Van Zandt and Leonard Cohen. And Parables Primes is the kind of album you envelop yourself in at 2am half drunk strangely attuned and with the lyrics on your lap as you follow along line by li

Danny Schmidt Album Review:
Master of Contemporary Folk at 2001-12-08 Where does one find good contemporary folk music in the 21st century? Try Danny Schmidts Live at the Prism Coffeehouse and Enjoying the Fall. Whether waxing philosophical in Belief and Not Unlike Water (Live...), or regional as in Heaven (Live...) and the celtic McCrearys Pipes (both albums), or simply playful in Lucky (Live...) or Drunk at the Biltmore (Fall...), Schmidt infuses all his songs with a good measure of poetry. Schmidts mastery of his Taylor is ably supported by just the right instrumentation: Roland Colellas fiddle and Bill Cardines dobro on Drunk at the Biltmore, Paddy Leagues bodhran on McCrearys Pipes, and Peter Markushs cello on Not Unlike Water complete the mood, as does Joia Woods highly competent vocal harmony. Folk is alive and thriving in Charlottesville.

Danny Schmidt Rolls Along His Blue Railroad Tracks at 2001-12-03 One time, in Dannys Virginia, I think, I saw a long freight train go by. I tried to count the cars but lost count, the gears and the metal clanking and knocking left me thinking about something else, I dont remember. Ive tried to watch the waves on the water, to really look at the lines they make when they fall back into themselves, but always end up thinking about something else. Schmidts music has this quality about it, this expanse of sound and images long enough and deep enough to take me off, first into it, and then somewhere else.
Danny Schmidt Album Review:
Haunting melodies and words from the heart at 2001-11-27 Anyone who wants an aesthetically-pleasing bunch of music will really enjoy listening to this CD. The music is beautiful to listen to, no doubt about it---amazing guitar-playing, especially the intricate work of Gods Love of Man, and also beautiful harmonies throughout the songs. But anyone who really sits down and listens to the words of Dannys music will gain a deeper love of these songs and a snapshot view of the experiences and values of this talented musician.
Danny Schmidt Album Review:
Enjoying the Fall at 2001-11-23 I highly recommend this CD if youre a fan of folk music. The melodies are pretty and the lyrics are thought-provoking. The guitar playing is masterful (check out McCrearys Pipes) and Joia Woods backup singing compliments Dannys voice beautifully. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this one.
Danny Schmidt Album Review:
knocked me off my chair at 2001-11-22 i was lying in my friends bed, and she stuck in this cd of dannys and it startled me, captured me, kidnapped me for the next week...i couldnt get it out of my tape deck. actually, to be fair, the original album that captivated me was his live cd, but many of the songs are similar, and the sad celtic tune mcclearys pipe, in enjoying the fall is perhaps the most beautiful song ive ever heard
