Revisit Another Dada Classic at 2005-04-28
For those of us old enough to remember this second release from Dada in 1994; it would be hard to think that this new remixed disc could actually be made any better than the origional, but it is! With the hindsight of ten years to think it over, Dadas newly remixed CD includes classic fan favorites like Ask The Dust, Scum, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Green Henry, Gogo and Feel Me Dont You. The three bonus tracks are fun to listen to, along with the newly re-recorded thirteen songs from 94. The best song 8 Track is worth the price of this CD alone!

Dada Album Editorial:
American Highway Flower released in September 1994 had a harder feel both musically and lyrically than the bands debut release Puzzle reflecting the bands evolution from a studio to a touring band. On this newly remastered re-issue there are 3 bonus tracks including the favorite Im Feeling Nothing previously released only on the Brady Bunch Movie Soundtrack. The track All American Suicide has only been released in Japan while Little Insister has never been released.

14 Years of Ownership and Counting at 2006-01-13
I purchased this albumn when it came out in 1992, and I still play it on a regular basis today. This is a good filter too - usually its the truly talented musicians and producers with their own garage studios that own a copy of Puzzle. Its smart music, and thats what I enjoy the most.

Great Rock Band at 2005-11-30
This CD has it all---a bit of blues, rock, and pop all in one. It sets various moods with sophisticated guitar that is mellow, sometimes angry, and always interesting..... and is a great road trip CD. I am surprised this CD did not sell better. If Da Da ever comes to Orange County, this will be a concert I will definitely go see.

DADA PUZZLE at 2005-11-10
This one of the best bands i have heard of in many years.Their style takes me back to the early 70s rock but fit right in todays standards. If you like true smooth rock and roll not the hard screaming stuff this is a great band to listen to.

BUY IT! at 2005-10-05
DADA is without a doubt the most under-rated band in the history of rocknroll. Hitting their stride at the same time that Grunge Rock was emerging, these journeymen rockers have been ignored except by a small following of loyal fans. Their first two CDs. Puzzle and American Highway Flower are clearly their best work. If you like searing guitar solos, tight drumming, and great 3-part harmonies the BUY THIS CD...

Still the best album from one of the best bands of the 90s or ever at 2005-10-04
I bought my first copy of Puzzle back in the mid-90s after falling in love with DizzKneeLand and Dim on the radio, and letting a couple of years go by where I didnt hear anything else remotely as good. It became my favorite CD of all time, and has been at or near the top of my list ever since. Filled with great songs that you never get tired of hearing. dada carved out an original sound that has never really been equaled. If the first 45 seconds of the title track dont make you sit up and say WOW, then, well, I feel sorry for you! The bonus tracks dont quite measure up to the power of the original, but theyre a fun addition. Michael Gurleys guitar work is just astounding -- its hard to believe this guy isnt routinely listed among the top 10 all time axehandlers. Joie Calios vocals and bass are top-notch, and Phil Leavitts drums are steady all the time, funky when they need to be, and really propel the upbeat songs. Best tracks: Dorina, Mary Sunshine Rain, Puzzle, Who You Are.

Dada Album Editorial:
In 1992 dada exploded on the scene with their critically acclaimed debut release Puzzle originally released on I.R.S. Records. The single Dizz Knee Land set the alternative radio movement (just then hitting its stride) on fire and quickly migrated to mainstream rock and pop stations. The re-issue of Puzzle has been newly remasterd and enhanced and includes 3 bonus tracks (recorded during the Puzzle sessions)never before released in the USA. This Enhanced CD includes the video of Here Today Gone Tommorrow

The fleecing of dadas fans at 2005-11-02
The content of this CD is excellent and is probably their most consistant effort aside from the Puzzle. I would say their catalog is about as good as any underrated band out there. As far as the previous reviewers lovely musings on the Fleecing of America, (sarcasm implied), how does he feel about Dada releasing remasters of CDs that came out 10 years ago? I would call that more of a true definition of fleecing. Why they didnt release a separate CD of all the unreleased tracks instead of forcing the rabid fan to buy all of the CDs again is obvious. They too, no matter how much they might not admit it, need to make a buck and had to soak their fans the extra cash. I know a lot of people would be more apt to buy a b-sides CD than the CDs they already owned again.

Dadas Masterpiece at 2005-01-25
Its a crime how unsung this band is. Three extremely gifted (and quite multi-talented) musicians and songwriters. How these guys found each other and have hung together so long in such a wicked industry is a neat little testament to how good music can find a way to be created no matter what the odds.El Subliminoso is the paramount of their efforts. The opener - Time Is Your Friend is a classic Dadaism: wry, witty, telling lyrics that mock and mourn at the same time...driven by a really kickin hook and riff. Bob The Drummer, Trip With My Dad and Sick In Santorini are idiosyncratic gems. Star You Are is a sweet ode to a soon-to-be-ex-talking-head as seen through the twisted eyes of a lonely madman. The Fleecing of America is an urgent anti-anthem written for the architects of the Patriot Act (even though this song was written well before that travesty became law). The added bonus tracks are all excellent as well - particularly their cover of California Dreamin. Dont be a schmuck - pick this one up.

Dada Album Editorial:
The April 1996 release of El Subliminosa was perhaps dadas most artistically complex and satisfying offering to date. Lush harmonies coupled with melodic choruses make this release a must have for old and new fans alike. This newly remastered re-issue features 4 bonus tracks which 3 have never been released. A mind blowing acid version of The Mamas and Papas California Dreamin previously only released in the UK and Japan.

The Greatest Unknown Band Returns to Top Form! at 2004-11-20
There was another review here that was quite negative, but it was because she thought she was buying something completely different! Dada has been around since the early nineties, and after a hiatus of sorts, they reformed to produce How To Be Found. Ill echo what many other reviews and comments here and across the Internet say: dada is the most under-rated power trio of the nineties and now. These guys are musicians musicians! And HTBF is as good as their first album, Puzzle. If youre new to dada, pick either or both of these albums, then dive into their other releases for more goodness. And if you EVER get a chance to see them live, you MUST go! You will not be disappointed ;-)

A Rare Gem! at 2004-11-05
Dada showed up near my house for a concert in a smallish venue. A friend said they were good so I went. I was blown away. I didnt know any of their songs before that concert, but it was still great. Since that time I have become another dada fanatic. They are the greatest unknown band. Its too bad Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Rap took over the alternative scene, seriously. Give me back dada, Jellyfish, and Matthew Sweet any day. They also remind me of Oasis, but infinitely better. Dada always has great guitar work and rocking songs, and they also have ballads that will either totally blow you away or make you cringe, they are just so good that they belong back in the days of Beatles, before the world was so cynical. Most people arent embarrassed to sing Temptations My Girl or Beatles Something, but for some reason they dont want to go there with a new song. Dada can take you there. This album includes several of the best ballads written in the past decade. It also had edgy guitar work that is not for the weak and simple minded folk. They are behind the times and ahead of their time and thats part of their appeal, just damn good music. I would classify several songs from this album as 60s psychedelic. Like some of the other reviews have mentioned, you need to listen to a dada album a couple of times before it hits you. They have the best and most interesting harmonies out there today, excellent instrumentation, and unique lyrics (particularly Puzzle). This is a solid dada album. A side note: Puzzle has some of the most interesting songs I have ever heard, and if you havent heard dada before, start there. The lyrics in this album are not as clever as El Subliminoso and not as perfectly produced at their 4th album titled dada, but this album can stand on its own. I listen to this album more than 95% of the other albums in my huge collection. These arent songs that you get tired of; they are songs that get better with each play.

Whats Left To Be Said? at 2005-04-29
After reading all of the superlative reviews of DADAS latest release: How To Be Found; I find it incredible that these guys are still so relevent musically.Ive found myself listening to this CD over, and over and each time finding something in the songs that I hadnt heard before. The last song Love Is A Weird Thing is by itself, an example of why I never get tired of listening to these guys. It starts out slow, and then builds to an emotionally charged dynamic ending. All the other reviews are right: DADA are back, and better than ever!

A fans disappointment at 2005-01-02
Ive been a fan and have listened to their music since the early 90s. I got all copies of their studio releases but this is the worst to crash in to my collection. It seems the magics gone...the vocal harmony and catchy guitar lines(how i wish i could play the axe that way!). For starters, Id recommend Puzzle first because for me thats where my addiction to their music started. To the greatest roady trio, you got yourself a filipino fan...but my heart just sank on this latest release you had but still...more power to you guys!!!
Dada Album Review:
Not their best album, but still great at 2005-03-26
Ive seen Dada twice, once back in 94, after the release of American Highway Flower, and again about a year ago. There is no way you can possibly conceive how incredible a guitarist Mike Gurley is simply by listening to their recordings alone. He is phenomenal, and it is beyond me why they have gotten no air play whatsoever, besides Dizz Knee Land and Dim. Gurley is one of the most interesting musicians to listen to--his guitar work will captivate you, and you will be astounded by the sounds he can make with his instrument. If I had to say, gee, I sure wish I could play guitar like him, I would say it about Gurley, he is by far one of the best. As far as How To Be Found goes, its very good. Lots of nice rockers, No one Like You is an incredible song and Love is a Weird Thing is also very good, two of my favorite songs by Dada, and the two standout tracks on this CD. I think this follows nicely along the path Dada has started on since they began recording, and though its not their best album, take into consideration what theyve done before--how could you top albums like American Highway Flower or El Subliminoso?? Those are landmarks in modern rock. All in all, fans should not be disappointed by this album, I wasnt whatsoever. If ever Dada comes to your town, you better go see them--they put on one of the most incredible shows, and I guarantee if you like Dada now, youll like them ten times more after you experience them live!!!

Dada Album Editorial:
How To Be Found is comprised of previously unreleased tracks written by dada and mixed by rock industry hearyweights Bob Clearmounton (Springsteen Bowie) Scott Gordon and Tom Lord. The infectious collection of songs newly mastered is classic dada: smart sharp lyrics undeniable melodies and incredible musicianship by Joie Calio (vocals bass) Michael Gurley (vocals guitar) and Phil Leavitt (drums vocals). Few Bands endure over a decade of work together. Fewer still are delivering their strongest performances and material ten years down the road.
