Alan Haynes Bio

Alan Haynes sings and plays blues guitar. He's very good at it, too. He has a string of solo CDs to his credit, as well as dozens of credits playing guitar behind other folks on their albums.

You can catch him the the Austin clubs surprisingly often, considering how much he tours and how popular he is in Europe. Keep an eye peeled for his shows when he's in town.

He's fond of live albums. In 2002 he released Live at the Big Easy, which was recorded at The Big Easy in Houston. In 2000, he released Jim Suhler & Alan Haynes, Live at the Blue Cat Blues, recorded at Blue Cat Blues in Dallas.

His first releases were in 1984, when he released Wishing Well and Stepchildren. Since that time, he's recorded with Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton, Johnny Winter, Roy Cox, and Mark May. Haynes performed with Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds (with Jimmie Vaughan), Albert Collins, John Lee Hooker, Otis Rush, Hubert Sumlin, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Cray, Bugs Henderson, Gregg Martin, Joe Walsh, Leroy Parnell, Willie Nelson, John Mayall, James Cotton, Denny Freeman, Austin?s Sexton brothers (Will & Charlie), Derek O?Brien, Doyle Bramhall ll. He claims Johnny Windter as a major inspiration.

For six years in the 1990?s Haynes was the house band at the legendary Antone?s Blues Club. He's won several awards for guitar playing and for his blues bands.
